- Killing time : a novel of the future by Caleb Carr [PS3553 .A76277 K55 2000] - A suspenseful book set in the near future (2023) - no idea if Carr's writing is anything like J.D. Robb's, but J.D. Robb is the first author that popped into my head as I was reading this book's description.

I think Carr writes mostly historical thrillers (when he is not writing real history as he is a historian). I was going to read The Alienist (or maybe it was its sequel, The Angel of Darkness) for an online book discussion, but didn't have time. I think I may have put the book out in the Casual Reading Corner, but no telling if it's still there.
